On Campus

Many students wish to live on campus at uni. Living on campus gives students the stability and support that they need when starting out. The convenience of living so close to classes and the camaraderie with other students is the most commonly cited advantages. Presently, there are three different choices of student accommodation at Macquarie, each with its own approach to on-campus life.

Macquarie University Village is focused on providing students with the total university experience. That means we make sure you have plenty of activities to keep you entertained, informed and healthy and we also provide plenty of support along the way.

You have a choice of room types at the Village (subject to availability). You may like to have the privacy of a one bedroom apartment, or you may choose the more communal living of the five bedroom apartment. All bedrooms have either single or king single beds, a desk, chair and built in wardrobe. Every bedroom has its own ensuite. You never have to share a bathroom with another resident. Kitchens are stocked with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans. All you will have to bring are a few culinary skills.

There is a huge range of organised activities offered inside and outside the Village over the course of a year. Activities held in the Village tend to focus around the Village Green. Activities cover a broad range of social, volunteering and sporting events. Many activities are open to the friends of residents and other students of the University – the Village is not separated from the University and local community by high walls; it is part of the community.

Dunmore Lang College (DLC) gives students a comprehensive college experience. The oldest of the university colleges, it seeks to provide an atmosphere conducive to academic and personal growth for students during their time at university. The college's staff are there to help with any of the residents' needs, be they academic, sporting, social, spiritual, or just on the more practical level of getting settled in at uni. "Work hard, live easy" is the saying at DLC, and there's plenty of people to make that the way for you.

The academic success of residents is important to the college. It's the reason students go to uni in the first place, so it gets top priority. To assist the students in reaching their academic goals, DLC offers plenty of help in the form of resident tutors, academic visitors, and full research facilities.

At DLC all the cooking and cleaning is done for you, so you have more time to utilise the recreational facilities the university and the college provide. Dunmore Lang College has won the inter-college sporting competition the last six years running. If you love sport, and want to continue doing it at university, in a team environment with your friends, then DLC is the place for you. There's also a long list of cultural activities every year, from music and food events to the college cultural magazine. Many of the alumni say participating in these co-curricular activities made them friends for life.

Robert Menzies College (RMC) is a great place to live and study.  It provides a strong, active community life where students from all over Australia and the world can feel at home.  Throughout the year there are literally dozens of events organised by the College and its Student Association, including social events and outings, inter-College sports, formal dinners, international festivals, musical and cultural performances, community service activities, and the Annual Ball.

RMC is committed to looking after all the needs of its 200 resident members in a friendly and stimulating environment.  There is an extensive academic assistance program to assist with your studies, as well as a team of Residential Tutors dedicated to your welfare.  Common facilities such as the Computer Room, the Games Room (with video projector, tabletennis and pool table), the Members’ Lounge, the Library, and the TV Room (with Foxtel) add to the community experience.

At RMC you are provided with three meals per day and the cleaning is done for you.  Every room has broadband internet and a telephone with voicemail.  Plus you are only minutes away from the University itself, Macquarie Centre shops and cinemas, and the new railway station (opening 2008).

RMC is an Anglican Christian College, welcoming students from any religion, culture or nationality.
