eBusiness

The Area of Study

The study of eBusiness includes traditional electronic commerce (the technology of eBusiness) and the business processes that make use of this technology. As well as studying core units that cover relevant information technology, business and specialist eBusiness topics, you will elect to specialise in technology, management or media aspects of eBusiness.

The technology stream offers mathematics and computing units in line with a focus on information technology including topics involving computer science principles, analysis and design methods. The management stream offers introductory financial accounting and fundamentals of marketing. The multimedia stream offers units in Australian media, media cultures, the culture of multimedia, media and the market, multimedia theory and project development.

Recommended Prior Knowledge

A minimum of HSC Mathematics (Band 2) or equivalent is a HSC Information Processes and Technology and/or Software Design and Development; Mathematics (Band 4) or their equivalents are recommended studies for eBusiness units. For a major in Technology, HSC Mathematics or its equivalent is assumed knowledge and Mathematics Extension 1 (Band E2) or Mathematics Extension 2 or their equivalents are recommended studies. The majors in Management and Multimedia have HSC Mathematics or its equivalent as recommended studies. Other units taken as part of a degree may require assumed knowledge, prerequisites or recommended studies and you should refer to the Macquarie University Handbook of Undergraduate Studies for full degree requirements.
