Macquarie University offers programs in the experimental medical sciences which include biochemistry, physiology, microbiology, genetics, medical chemistry and psychology.
Studies in the medical sciences provide a broad range of practical and applied sciences required in the medical, biomedical and related health professions. The program for the Bachelor of Medical Sciences is prescribed. In the first year, you must take biology, chemistry, psychology, physics, statistics and mathematics. In the next two years, you choose to specialise in one of three strands (biomedical, medical chemistry or psychomedical sciences).

HSC Mathematics (Band 2) plus Chemistry (Band 3), or their equivalents, are recommended studies for biology and chemistry units.
