Geologists and geophysicists have an essential role in the exploration for, and assessment and development of, Australia’s mineral and fossil fuel resources. Both are vital for understanding the development and long-term maintenance of the environment. With the rapidly increasing global population, geoscientists will be needed to maintain resource output and to be part of increasing efforts to minimise damage to the environment.
The study of geosciences at Macquarie University prepares you for a challenging career that can take you around the world to work on the continents or in the oceans, and even to take part in studies of other planets.
