Education Studies

The Area Of Study

A formal study of education takes a broader perspective than classrooms. Introductory units raise major issues confronting contemporary Australian education set against an international background. Later units focus on the learner and the context of learning, issues of curriculum and assessment, special groups of people (students from non-English-speaking backgrounds, exceptional children), special sectors (school and adult education, international education) and technology.

While most students enrolling in education do plan to teach, you can undertake major studies in education and enter fields such as educational planning and policy, education and training of adults and educational research.
