Population Studies

The Area Of Study

Population studies is about the links between population processes (births, deaths, migration) and population characteristics (population size, age structure, sex ratio, ethnic composition), and the implications of population change between areas over time.

When undertaking a major in population studies, you must complete units in demography, human geography and an introductory unit in statistics in the core component of the program. You must also choose an elective in a related, specialised field of study, from either anthropology, biology, economics, education, geography, history, law, marketing, politics, sociology or statistics.
