Business law is the study of law as it relates to business activities. The Department of Business Law offers subjects relevant to business, trade and commerce not only in Australia but also in Asia and Europe. An understanding of legal principles has become an important criterion for employment in the private and public spheres.
There are two main programs which include a study of business law:
Graduates in these areas work in occupations such as accounting, marketing and management. The business law units aim to alert and inform prospective professionals to legal issues arising in commerce and professional accounting practice.

First-year business law units do not require any assumed knowledge, prerequisites or recommended studies. Other units taken as part of a degree may require assumed knowledge, prerequisites or recommended studies and you should refer to the Macquarie University Handbook of Undergraduate Studies for full degree requirements.
The professional accounting sequence in any of the degrees listed will meet the tertiary accreditation requirements of CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA).
